Explanation of how our Student Council members are elected

We start our elections by choosing our officers first. We have the offices of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. 4th graders (incoming 5th graders) only are eligible to run for an office. We hold our election of officers at the end of the school year. The 4 students who win the election will serve starting after the election, during the summer if needed, and then into the next school year. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders vote for the officers. During the fall, we choose our classroom representatives. We have 2 representatives from each 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes. Each class votes on their own representatives. The requirements for officers and representatives are the same. They are listed below:

  • Must have at least a C average in all graded subjects/areas
  • No behavior problems (including P.E., bus, etc.)
  • Must be able to attend all Student Council meetings
  • Be responsible and be a good citizen
  • Must have parent permission
  • Must be willing to campaign for office
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of others
